The departure of Chris Ashton from European Champions Saracens at the end of last season raised a few eyebrows in England and since his arrival at Toulon, rugby fans will be wondering just what the RFU let go.

Having seen his international career falter for a number of different reasons, the 30-year-old took the decision to quit England’s shores for warmer, and more lucrative, climes ahead of the new season. Robin van Persie expresses his joy in returning to the Netherlands squad

It had been 2 years since Robin van Persie was able to make his presence in the international stage but in a recent 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match of Netherlands against France, he was called by Dick Advocaat.


Unfortunately for Robin van Persie, his return to the Netherlands team was a disastrous one as his national team suffered a 4-0 defeat against the French outfit and he could only perform for a few minutes as he came into the pitch at the 64th minute and was later injured.

The player himself has stated that his injury is not very serious but for some reason, various media outlets are saying the total opposite. Those media outlets are claiming that it’s a very serious injury which could even threaten the professional playing career of Robin van Persie.

Nonetheless, before the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match between Netherlands and France kicked off on August 31, Robin van Persie displayed his joy in being called up and making a return to his national side as the veteran attacker said: Continue reading »

CHEIKA FACING WORLD RUGBY INVESTIGATION

Michael Cheika’s conduct during Australia’s 30-6 defeat by England at Twickenham has been referred for investigation by World Rugby.

The Wallabies head coach was infuriated by a number of refereeing decisions and when a Michael Hooper try was disallowed in the first half, he appeared to mouth “fucking genius” in reference to the decision made by the referee Ben O’Keeffe. Continue reading »

ENGLAND DROP KRUIS FOR AUSTRALIA

England coach Eddie Jones has dropped Saracens lock George Kruis for the upcoming encounter against Australia to be played at Twickenham on Saturday.

Kruis played 55 minutes in the game against Argentina which the red rose team went on to win 21-8 and the 27-year-old’s place in the squad is taken by Bath’s Charlie Ewels. Continue reading »

Robin Van Persie also desires to bring his career to an end

Like any other Footballer, Robin Van Persie also desires to bring his career to an end playing on his home turf and in front of his own people.


The charismatic forward admits that getting back to his country’s league is something that is in his mind.

He however makes it clear that if he returns to the Holland league, there are only two clubs Feyenoord and Excelsior which he will choose from.

Both these clubs are based in the city of Rotterdam which is also the birthplace of Van Persie.

Van Persie has had a past connection with Feyenoord and Excelsior. His academy days were spent at Excelsior. He remained there from the age of 14 to 16 learning all the basic skills of soccer.

But because of the attitude problem, Excelsior parted ways with him and he was thereafter taken away by Feyenoord where he had his first taste of senior professional Football.

With the skill-set that he had, Van Persie was never going to remain in Holland for a long time. Continue reading »

LANGLANDS DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT ALLEGATIONS

Graeme Langlands most likely did not know of the sexual assault allegations leveled against him as he was in an advanced stage of dementia, according to reports. The rugby league legend could not even recognize his former teammates or opponents who were at his bed side to visit him. He barely made any connection.

The legend, who is one of the greatest fullbacks in the history of the game, was charged with six counts of indecent treatment of children below 16. There were allegation that he misbehaved on the Gold Coast with a particular incident between March and June of 1982. After years of pro football, the allegations just lay hanging as he was in an advanced stage of his illness and too ill to defend himself in a Brisbane Court. Continue reading »

Why was Robin van Persie offloaded to a rival club?

After spending 8 seasons at the Emirates Stadium as a player of Arsenal, Robin van Persie made a move to Manchester United and this was a controversial transfer as the Dutch attacker joined a rival club of Arsenal.


This transfer was completed back on August of 2012 and during the season of 2011-12, Manchester United finished in 2nd place while Arsenal had to settle with a 3rd place finish.

So, why would Arsene Wenger allow Robin van Persie to leave and join one of their main rivals? The French manager has recently revealed the reason of why he gave the green light to make this transfer happen.

During one of the latest press conferences of Arsene Wenger, he was asked about Robin van Persieand what was his reasoning behind letting him go to Manchester United, the 67 year old manager said:

 

“I let Van Persie go in the last year of his contract because he was 29, going on 30 and he was signing a long-term contract.That is not the case with Alexis. I personally think he will sign and stay here.”

One of the questions that Arsenal supporters are constantly asking Arsene Wenger has been in relation to Alexis Sanchez and if the Chilean player will have the same destiny as Robin van Persie. Continue reading »
