Why was Robin van Persie offloaded to a rival club?

After spending 8 seasons at the Emirates Stadium as a player of Arsenal, Robin van Persie made a move to Manchester United and this was a controversial transfer as the Dutch attacker joined a rival club of Arsenal.

This transfer was completed back on August of 2012 and during the season of 2011-12, Manchester United finished in 2nd place while Arsenal had to settle with a 3rd place finish.

So, why would Arsene Wenger allow Robin van Persie to leave and join one of their main rivals? The French manager has recently revealed the reason of why he gave the green light to make this transfer happen.

During one of the latest press conferences of Arsene Wenger, he was asked about Robin van Persieand what was his reasoning behind letting him go to Manchester United, the 67 year old manager said:

“I let Van Persie go in the last year of his contract because he was 29, going on 30 and he was signing a long-term contract. That is not the case with Alexis. I personally think he will sign and stay here.”

One of the questions that Arsenal supporters are constantly asking Arsene Wenger has been in relation to Alexis Sanchez and if the Chilean player will have the same destiny as Robin van Persie. Continue reading Why was Robin van Persie offloaded to a rival club?

RVP GETS TWO-MATCH BAN

Robin van Persie is set to serve out a two-match ban for taunting a former teammate whilst in action for Fenerbahce, according to reports.

The former Arsenal and Manchester United striker celebrated his goal in the 1-0 victory over archrivals Besiktas in the Turkish Cup earlier this month.

Van Persie did his celebration in front of Oguzhan Ozyakup – whom he knows from his time in the North London outfit. Both players clashed earlier when Besiktas defender Dusko Tosic was sent off. The defender was given the marching orders for a push on Van Persie in the 18-yard box.

Van Persie scored 18 minutes from the end of the game and he quickly sought out Ozyakup. He slid in front of the skipper for the opposing sides, provoking him. The player did not take the issue lightly, speaking strongly against his action after the match. Continue reading RVP GETS TWO-MATCH BAN

VAN PERSIE: I CAN HELP VINCENT JANSSEN IMPROVE

Former Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has picked out struggling Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen as a player he wants to transform into a Premier League star.

Van Persie is convinced that he can offer tips to his fellow Dutchman that can make a big difference to the player and improve his game. The player who himself, has not been a part of Danny Blind’s plans recently believes that he can act as a mentor to the younger players to help them improve their game.

Janssen has made little impact since making the move to White Hart Lane from AZ Alkmaar in the summer for 18million euros. The 22-year old has scored just 3 goals in 20 matches this season – all of which have been from the penalty spot.

Premier League legend, RVP, who had prolific spells at Arsenal for eight years and Manchester United for three years, believes he can assist Janssen into a smooth transition and adaptation into the Premier League through his interaction with the Holland international and develop him into a bona fide star. VAN PERSIE’S 100TH CAP FOR NETHERLANDS

Robin van Persie has been highly respected for his services to the Netherlands national team.

The Dutch striker won his 100th cap when he featured in the final minutes of a 2–1 away victory over Kazakhstan in Euro 2016 qualifying last October.

And the former Manchester United and Arsenal man has taken to Instagram to flaunt the awards he has been presented with for reaching the milestone of 100th commemoration cap.

“I am more than happy to have received the UEFA 100th commemoration cap, the KNVB golden plate and the UEFA 100 Club medal at home,” Van Persie captioned the images.

“I am proud I had the opportunity to be able to receive this. It has been a milestone in my career. Thank you KNVB, UEFA, FIFA for organizing great matches and amazing tournaments and to all of those who have been there and who have been supporting me along the way.”

The Fenerbahce in-form striker, who happens to be the eighth man from Netherlands to manage a century of caps, is his country’s all-time leading goal scorer with 50 goals to his name

Netherlands’ all time goal-scorer was left out from their upcoming matches

Robin van Persie has scored 50 goals for the Netherlands national football team and this is the highest amount that any player has ever scored for the national side, even though he has been so prolific with Netherlands, the veteran attacker has not been playing such an important role for his country as he was not included in their approaching matches.

During the UEFA 2016 Euro’s, Van Persie was replaced by ArjenRobben as the captain of the national side and he has been playing more of a substitute role than anything else in recent times.

Netherlands has to face off with Sweden on September 6 in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier and Van Persie was not included in the team of the head coach Danny Blind.

All of the forwards that Danny Blind announced for these upcoming games are: Bas Dost, Klaas Jan-Huntelaar, Vincent Janssen, Luuk de Jong, JurgenLocadia, Luciano Narsingh and Quincy Promes.

Despite being the all-time top goal-scorer of Netherlands, it seems like Van Persie’s spot in the national side is starting to banish but this is not something surprising to see as players who reach a certain age begin to lose their influence in teams that are competitive and this occurs even more regularly with national sides as there are more players trying to find their place in the first team and more youngsters emerge at a faster pace.

At the age of 33, Robin van Persie is not the same explosive player he once was and there are younger players who are being given the chance to prove their worth.

Netherlands failed to qualify for the 2016 UEFA Euro’s and Danny Blind is eager to turn the national side into one that is able to compete and become the titans that they once were some time ago.
